Renewal Center

Many Chinese from the surrounding provinces come to Shanghai in search of work. Many are unable to work because they don’t have a work permit. Others work as laborers who are promised remuneration after completion of work, housed in crowded rooms, provided basic food and sent away empty handed after the work is over. Still others fritter away their salaries and stay on the streets.

The homeless are provided two sets of clothes and toiletries. They can come to the center and have a shower thrice a week. The dirty linen is washed and dried and kept ready for them for the next visit.

While they are at the center, meals are provided. They also have the space to play recreational games.

Responsive individuals are given small tasks and if proven responsible, provided assistance to get placements in factories, restaurants etc where they are given vocational training and absorbed.
